Born in Liverpool in 1989 and now based in Barcelona, Jonathon Ryan is a visual artist whose creative practice began by exploring the philosophies of ‘being’. After studying fine art and photography at university, Ryan has exhibited his non-figurative works in solo and group exhibitions at numerous galleries worldwide.
Influenced by the poetry of Blake, Bauhaus visionaries such as Albers and Itten, and the contemplative fields of Rothko, Ryan’s work is a meditation on the mysteries of colour and form. Through shifting hues, geometric rhythms, and subtle illusions, his practice now seeks to unravel how colour shapes emotion, perception, and our sense of reality. Intertwining mathematical precision with the urgent questions of a world in flux, Ryan’s art becomes both an inquiry and an elegy — a desperate search for meaning amid the dissonance and loss of a world undergoing radical, unsettling change.
