SPACE A GALLERY is elated to announce "Anthrophecy: Everything Amidst Nothing", an exhibition showcasing 17 thought-provoking collages by British artist Jonathon Ryan.

In “Anthrophecy: Everything Amidst Nothing,” his first solo show, Ryan turns to collage and paper works to capture the fragility and complexity of a world in transition. Each piece weaves together fragments of colour and form, inviting viewers to navigate landscapes that are at once both familiar and uncertain. The exhibition becomes a visual prophecy — reflecting on change, resilience, and the subtle poetry found within indefinite chaos.
This exhibition unfolds as a layered meditation on
the paradoxes of form, identity, and the world
around us. The artist embraces the circle, a shape
celebrated in geometry as a zero-sided form, yet
undeniably defined by its boundary. Through vibrant,
overlapping circles of coloured card, the work
explores not only the mathematical purity of
geometric abstraction, but also its capacity to evoke
deeper concepts of space and time.
The abstraction of these circles alludes to the
cyclical passage of the seasons, their colours shifting
in harmony with nature’s rhythms — spring’s renewal, summer’s intensity, autumn’s warmth, and winter’s quietude. These seasonal transitions serve as
metaphors for the fluidity of time and the
interconnectedness of all things, echoing the
geometric abstractionists’ quest to transcend the
physical and gesture toward universal harmony.
In this context, the boundary of each circle becomes
a site of inquiry: a line that both separates and
connects, mirroring the fragile boundaries of our
climate and environment. The artist’s layering
technique hints at the cumulative impact of human
actions on the planet, subtly nodding to climate
change and the urgent need to recognise our place
within, not apart from, the cycles of nature. The
result is a visual language that is at once playful and
profound, inviting viewers to contemplate the
abstraction of space, the passage of time, and the
ever-shifting boundaries — personal, geometric, and
planetary — that define our shared experience.
